“Somebody help, the skyscrapers are on fire!”

“Sir, my baby’s still in there! Let me go so I could get him!” A woman cried out, “Please, I beg you!”

“I’m sorry, ma’am,” a fire exterminator consoled the woman, “It’s too dangerous to allow anyone to go inside. For everyone’s sake, we couldn’t risk any more lives.”

“No, my baby is going to die!” the mother wailed, choking on her hiccups. “Can someone save my baby boy?”

This calls for a hero. They need someone who is dashing, unafraid, and not to mention good-looking as well.

He heard everything and knows what he has to do. The rest of the Jedi are preoccupied with calming down the various crowd and keeping the situation under control. It’s not handled carefully when one innocent life is lost. No one else is capable or available at the moment.

It’s all up to him now.

He relied on the Force to guide his movements, it has never failed him before. With the Force as his ally, anything is possible. Even leaping up to high distances.

No sooner than he predicted, he found himself in a hallway. It was hotter than Hell could be. Now just need to find the boy.

The boy’s presence is strong, which means he’s nearby. The fiery atmosphere stung his eyes, until they watered, but hadn’t affected his vision. The burning ash and smoke would fail to filter down his lungs; he’ll be able to hold his breath for some time.

His perception and sense of direction widened when he heard the lone cry. And there the baby was, tangled up in his bed sheets. He gathered the crying boy in his arms. “I gottcha,” he assured the boy and tucked him in his robes to protect him from sparks.

There’s no way out. All the entrances and exists are blocked by debris. All except the window. “Hang on.”

The dashing knight ran, lightsaber blazing, into the window until it couldn’t take in any more pressure and broke free. Then he deactivated his lightsaber, and held on to the boy.  The Force was as easy as breathing. The freefall as though put in slow motion, sunlight hitting glass at the right moment as he landed to earth gracefully like a powerful god.

“Everybody, look!”

“Who is that guy? Is he a Jedi?”
Shouts and cheers rang through his ears. He enjoyed every moment of it; of course he couldn’t let anyone else know that. Too much of pride isn’t something that the Jedi look too well upon.

“My baby!” the woman cried, arms wide open for his return. “Thank you, Master Jedi for returning my precious to me.” Tears of joy streaked down her cheeks as she kissed her cooing baby.

“No need to thank me, ma’am,” he grinned, a job well done. “I did what other Jedi would’ve done, but I’m not a Master.”

“What are you?” she asked, her eyes wide in wonder. “Who are you?”

“Me? My name’s Zayne Carrick, Padawan in training and soon to be Jedi Knight,” He declared proudly, hooking his thumb to his chest. Maybe I’ll become a Master someday.”

“Zayne!”

He turned around, searching for the source of the voice. But he didn’t have to when he saw the familiar figure approach him.

“Shel!”

“Hi, Zayne,” Shel greeted excitely. “I saw what you did. That was quite noble of you. Actually, scratch that, I mean incredible.”

“Aw, it was nothing,” Zayne smirked and massaged his neck. Wow, Shel is really talking to me! “I did what someone would’ve done, you know. I would save you from a fire anything, just like that.”

“It didn’t look like nothing to me, you helped that mother without hesitation,” She explained, “You’re on fire!”

He laughed nervously.

“Seriously, Zayne, your robes on fire!”

“Holy-!” Zayne yelped and stepped on the flame. “How embarrassing,” he chuckled.

“Don’t worry about it,” Shel smiled as she held out her hand. “Zayne, I want to –“

“Wake up!”

“Huh?” Zayne asked, confused. “Who said that?”

“Said what?”

“Zayne, wake up. The day’s wasting away while you sleep here. Do you want to be late?”

“Just five more minutes, Mom. I’ll - ” Zayne grumbled. He snores on while someone is shaking him.

“I’m not your mother, Zayne. Come on, wake up!”

Zayne barely rose halfway up and stared at the green face glaring at him. “Ugly whore,” he groaned groggily.

“What?” the green face flushed bright with anger. “Why, you little-“

It was enough to shake him fully awake fully alert. “Gah,” Zayne gasped. “Kamlin! I didn’t mean to –“ Yikes! What’s she doing here? I’m awake now!” Note to self: avoid getting a Falleen mad at you.

“Forget it, Zayne,” Kamlin turned away. “You’re not worth it and Master Raana Tey would probably get my hide if I beat you black and blue. Hurry up and get dressed, we’re going to be late.”

He took one glance at the chrono.Yeah, I probably should. “Hey, Kamlin,” Zayne said, throwing on whatever seems presentable, “Thanks for waking me up and all.”

“Don’t mention it,” Kamlin replied gruffly. “Oojoh and Gharn didn’t want to because they witnessed your making out dream on your pillow. So they told me I should do it. I regret I ever agreed to this.”

“Heh, sorry,” Zayne apologized. Geez, how many dreams did he have of her? “I overslept last night by accident. It won’t happen again.”

“I’d be more worried if we never get there in time. The others wouldn’t wait for us long and the Masters wouldn’t excuse this.”

“Uh, what’s so special about today?”

“Zayne, you goof! I can’t believe you forgot overnight!” Kamlin exclaimed. “Today’s the day, we receive the debriefing for our Knighthood.”
Okay, this is part one of the Zayne Carrick fan fic for one of my good friends, :iconcindrollic:. So it's some kind of birthday fic. I promised to finish when I have time, but I can almost promise this would be finished before December 18. (as for :iconclaireangel:, I wouldn't forget you for the world, I'm currently working on your present as well)

I love Zayne, I really do, but it's way too fun making fun of him:heart:. The first part is cheesy, because it's his dream. I guess I have to assume Shel Jelavan is his supposed love interest. Who knows? I was kinda hoping Celeste Morne, but oh well.
I just decided to submit part of it early so to keep you preoccupied until I get back, Dylan. Also, can someone help me make up a title name? Please?
